Pittsfield Lakes(Berkshires)

Just over the state line in Massachusetts lies Berkshire County, with a multitude of outdoor recreational opportunities.  One of the great things about it for me, is that is a short drive away from home, so I chose to stop by and visit a couple of parks located along the shorelines of Pittsfield's two large lakes today.
Burbank Park is located off Valentine Road in a rural area of West Pittsfield, along the beautiful shores of 617 acre Onota Lake.
There are no official trails located here, but plenty of easy walking opportunities await you.
A panoramic view of Onota Lake with Pittsfield State Forest's many peaks as the backdrop.
Cold temperatures have brought ice to lake.
Open water and newly formed ice on the lake.
Very nearby Onota Lake is 480 acre Pontoosuc Lake, which forms th western boundary of Route 7, making this a well known staple of the landscape for most travelers through the area.  Along the lake's southern shoreline is Pontoosuc Park, a pleasant area for a picnic or to put in a kayak.
A panoramic view of the lake on a less than ideal, cold, blustery December day.
Only got out for a couple of very short walks today, but these are places I will certainly look forward to visiting in the warmer months of the year.
