Sunrise at Ooms

Nassau Lake just before sunrise.
There's nothing quite like getting a head start on the day and getting out there for the day's first light.  The air is cool and the sounds of songbirds fill the air.
Ducks and geese on Sutherland Pond.
 The sun cresting the horizon.
Geese on the quiet waters of Sutherland Pond.
Sunrise on a cool spring morning, with temps in the upper 30's.
The rolling hills of Ooms make for very pleasant walking, with abundant views.  Here is a nice view to the south.
Looking over the fields towards the rising sun in the eastern sky.
Ooms open meadows and rolling Columbia County landscape.
 Winding trails.
A rural scene at a nearby farm.
 Which path to take?
A look across the reflections on the pond at a picnic area near the trail entrance.
Once on the east side of the pond and with the sun at your back, the view of the pond looks entirely different.
 Dawn.
Although it was a bit cool, the morning was ever so beautiful.
 Dead End.
It's hard to put into words the feeling of peace and solitude that comes from being the first and only person at an amazing spot like this as the rest of the world wakes up.
