Got out for a small snowshoe trek this afternoon in the Albert Community Forest, located at the end of Hayes Road in the village of East Nassau. The road is not plowed to the parking area, so I was forced to park just past the end of private property where the road enters the woods. From where I left the car, I snowshoed up Hayes Road through deep snow to the orange blazed Cascades Trail.
The trail had been previously broken out prior to the last storm, but I had to break trail through close to a foot of fresh snow. The trail is fairly mellow, following a pretty little brook.
Although spring is right around the corner, a deep snow pack and wind chills in the teens are making it feel much more like mid winter.
Arriving back at the normal trailhead and parking area at the end of Hayes Road.
Snowshoe hiked about one mile total(with road walk).
