Got out for a short, local walk this afternoon at the Kinderhook Creek Preserve on an absolutely gorgeous spring day. The Rensselaer Land Trust is in the process of building new trails at the preserve so I went to check them out. Perfect conditions to start.
I took the white trail over to the black SAY trail, which quickly lead me to the new unmarked trails. The Land Trust is building new foot bridges over the tiny tributary that runs into the Kinderhook.
Another bridge crossing.
The new trails lead down to the Tsatsawassa Creek.
A nice picnic table has been placed on the bluff above the point where the two creeks meet.
The confluence of the creeks, complete with a rope swing on the opposite shore.
Just past the picnic bench, the new unmarked trail follows along the Kinderhook Creek.
Nearing the end of the new trail at a backwater area of the Kinderhook.
The Kinderhook Creek, from near the current trail system.
New foot bridges over a muddy tributary.
I enjoyed the solitude of these quiet woods on a great spring day wandering the trail system.
Hiked about 1.5 miles total.
One of my family favorites... we love hiking there; all seasons are awesome
ReplyDeletejust did it with dog charlie. beautiful fall day. river was raging with all the rain we're had. trails well marked, the steep trails are challenging, a good work out.
