The blue marked trail leaves the parking area and soon crosses MacIntyre Brook on a large footbridge.
As the trail continues to ascend, views to the north begin to open up, with a nearby rock cobble to your right.
A breathtaking view of Mount Colden's slides. Behind Mount Colden is Mount Marcy, just to the left.
A bronze plaque is found on a large vertical rock face at a northern part of the mountain. This was the location that a US Air Force B-47 bomber crashed in 1962, killing all occupants on board. There are several parts of the plane that can still be found scattered amongst the rocks here. Unfortunately many parts have been scavenged through the years, however.
Completed 6.6 miles RT with over 2300 vertical feet gained, on a nearly perfect late summer day.
