Wright Peak(Adirondack High Peaks)

Had the day off and nice weather in the forecast, so I headed north to hike 4580 foot Wright Peak, the 16th highest mountain in the High Peaks.  Wright is the northernmost peak in the MacIntyre Range and is accessed easily from the Adirondack Loj parking area by Heart Lake.  I paid the parking fee and found a spot and was on my way.
The blue marked trail leaves the parking area and soon crosses MacIntyre Brook on a large footbridge.
 MacIntyre Brook.
A rock stairway.  The trail stays mostly level for the first mile and comes to a trail junction with Marcy Dam at .9 miles.
A yellow marked trail continues south and begins climbing steadily over large rocks.
As the trail continues to ascend, views to the north begin to open up, with a nearby rock cobble to your right.
 Warning!
Just shy of three miles into the hike, a trail junction leaves to the left leading to Wright Peak.  This section of trail becomes very wet and with many open rock slabs.
Reaching timberline.
After climbing up and over a large rock wall, a false summit unfolds before you.
Following yellow blazing on the rocks as the trail climbs steadily to the summit area.
An incredible view of nearby 5114 foot Algonquin Peak, the second highest in the Adirondacks.
 Endless views abound.
Ascending to the top.
A huge rock cairn marks a final turn on the open rocks.
 Amazing views.
A breathtaking view of Mount Colden's slides.  Behind Mount Colden is Mount Marcy, just to the left.
A view north with Heart Lake and Mount Jo in the foreground.
The view west with numerous high peaks and other mountains rolling into the distance.
A panorama from Heart Lake all the way over to Mount Colden's slides.
Another panorama with nearby Algonquin taking over the frame.
A bronze plaque is found on a large vertical rock face at a northern part of the mountain.  This was the location that a US Air Force B-47 bomber crashed in 1962, killing all occupants on board.  There are several parts of the plane that can still be found scattered amongst the rocks here.  Unfortunately many parts have been scavenged through the years, however.
Lake Placid can be seen in the distance to the north.
The actual summit of 4580 foot Wright Peak.  There are no summit markers to be found however.
After enjoying the summit views for a while, I retraced my steps back down off the mountain.  The trail crosses MacIntyre Brook at the base of a 50 foot waterfall.  This makes a pleasant spot to stop and rest.
A small mountain stream, bathed in afternoon sunlight.
After a quiet hike back down the mountain, I arrived back at the more crowded Adirondack Loj parking area.
Completed 6.6 miles RT with over 2300 vertical feet gained, on a nearly perfect late summer day.
