Hollow Fields(Berkshires)

Visited Hollow Fields, a BNRC property, located just over the NY state line in Richmond, Massachusetts after work this afternoon.  From Route 20, turn onto Route 41 south for 2.5 miles, then bear right onto Perry Peak Road.  Parking is marked with a BNRC sign just after the second barn.  The view from the parking lot itself is very scenic, as the Richmond countryside spreads east to the foot of Lenox Mountain.
About 2 to 3 inches of fluffy snow greeted me, as the trail passes through wide open fields with pleasant views of Green Meads Farm.
As the trail ascends through the open fields, the views only get better, especially to the east where Lenox Mountain rises impressively.
The only negative about a scenic, open hike this time of year is the exposure to a cold winter wind.  Luckily the wind wasn't too strong, but a temperature in the low 20's kept it cool.
Near the top of the first field, a side trail breaks off into the woods.  Although unmarked, the trail is really an old woods road and pretty easy to follow.
Crossing over wintry Sleepy Hollow Brook.  From here,I climbed up steadily to the end of the BNRC property, where a sign clearly marked a boundary.  Was a bit unsure if I could continue on due to property issues, so I turned back there.
Back out of the woods, the afternoon began to grow late as I headed to the upper field at the north end of the property, with very nice south facing views.
Heading back down, with the evening shadows growing by the minute.  The descent was made much more pleasant as Lenox Mountain was nicely draped in fleeting sunlight.
A gorgeous winter scene, as evening shadows set in over the valley.
Passing by Green Meads Farm again.
Looking back up at the open fields on the descent.
Heading back to the red barn, where my hike had begun.
Hiked about 3 miles total on a cold, but pleasant winter day.
