Headed out after work to beautiful Indian Ladder Farms, which sits on over 300 acres at the foot of the Helderberg Escarpment in Altamont. The Escarpment wall towers impressively above the property and is visible from many different vantage points on the trails and in the orchards. This view is along a spot on the red trail near the entrance to the Nature Trail.
From a large meadow along the yellow blazed trail, I enjoyed another, slightly different view of the Escarpment wall.
After passing by the meadows and more orchards, the yellow trail dips into the woods, where it comes to a scenic little pond.
The calm reflections on the pond were only broken up by the water fowl I managed to spook as I did my best to tread quietly.
Further along the yellow trail, I found some old stone walls, which are always a treat to see.
Back on the red trail, which follows an old farm road through a handsome hardwood forest, enjoying the solitude and a refreshing breeze.
The blue blazed trail forms a loop in the NW corner of the property, meandering through both hardwoods and softwood forests.
With summer giving way to fall, it seemed only appropriate that I saw this tree almost fully half and half.
Heading back towards the parking area, passing by rows of corn stalks and more orchards, marking a gorgeous September afternoon.
Walked a bit over 2 miles total, with only minimal elevation gain on these beautiful grounds.
