Kinderhook Creek Preserve(East Nassau, Rensselaer County)

Took a short, local winter solstice hike at the Rensselaer Land Trust's Kinderhook Creek Preserve after work today.  This is a beautiful property and the Land Trust does a marvelous job with trail work, signage and maintenance.
I wandered various trails and surprisingly had the woods to myself.  I loved this perspective just off trail of a bend in the Tsatsawassa Creek, which drains into the larger Kinderhook just downstream(the confluence is visible to the right in the photo).
The highlight of the preserve is undoubtedly where the two creeks meet.  In summer this is a nice picnic spot, and even on a cold winter's day, there is still something magical about this spot.
The last few days have been extremely cold, and the full on winter conditions create their own art work.  Nature at its best.
There was only about 2 to 3 inches of snow in the woods so I bare booted it and was fine. Took my time strolling peacefully until the early sunset turned the woods dark quickly.  Hiked about 2 miles RT.
