The Cobble Mountain(Sentinel Range Wilderness-Adirondacks)

Finally got a nice day to do some exploring in an area just north of the High Peaks today.  My first stop was to The Cobble Mountain, a small peak on the far eastern edge of the Sentinel Mountain Range in Wilmington.  Access is from gravel Bartlett Road, where a couple of small unmarked pull offs provide parking.  The drive along the one lane road itself, was simply beautiful.
The mountain sits just a touch over 2100 feet, but with a starting elevation of 1440 feet it is a short, but steep climb.  Headed slightly NE into the woods to avoid the steep cliff bands below the summit.  Within about 15 minutes, I had very good views east towards Clements Mountain.
Open woods lead me directly up to an impressive area of open rock ledges.
The open ledges on the south side of the summit were incredible, and made a great spot to soak in the views over Keene and towards the High Peaks.
SE views from the open rock ledges.
Continuing up past the open rock towards the summit.
The beautiful, open woods leading to the summit.  What an awesome little peak!
The views from the 2103 foot summit are incredible.  NW views here over Sentinel Mountain's shoulder, with Stewart Mountain rising beyond.
Directly in front of you and to the west is 3838 foot Sentinel Mountain.
A perfectly placed boulder sits at the summit, making for a picturesque view towards the High Peaks SW.
East views again from ledges SE off the summit.
The open rock on Ebenezer Mountain to the NE, with Route 9N and Upper Jay below.
On the descent I picked up a bit of a herd path and followed it down.  A lot of bang for the buck on this beauty.  About 2.3 miles RT with just under 1000 feet total ascent.
