Lake Lonely(Saratoga Springs, Saratoga County)

Did a very short but enjoyable walk to Lake Lonely, which is basically a peaceful, nature retreat in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Saratoga Springs.  Saratoga PLAN and the Saratoga National Golf Course have partnered on an easement that allows the public to hike this half mile trail.  Access is about 100 feet past the entrance to the Golf Course along Route 9N south, less than a mile off Exit 14 on the Northway.  The trail quickly departs the parking area and heads into a brushy, wet area along Bog Meadow Brook.

A sturdy footbridge crosses Bog Meadow Brook and then continues through a larger wetland area.  The only downside to this trail, is the constant sounds(and sight) of nearby traffic on Route 9N just a few yards away.
Within just a few minutes, the trail arrives at a small dock and overlook on the northeast shore of Lake Lonely.  I tried to get close to the water, but it is quite muddy and mucky.
The view south towards some private residences along the lake.  I was actually a bit surprised to have the trail to myself, but it was a very early morning walk, mid week.
After enjoying a few minutes of solitude, I turned around and retraced my steps back to the car.  Walked just over one mile total with almost zero elevation gain, meaning this is an extremely easy, but enjoyable walk.  A great place to stretch your legs with a nice payoff.
