Second Pond(Grafton Lakes State Park-Grafton, NY)

Took advantage of another perfect fall evening by doing a loop around Second Pond on a combination of marked trails and an unmarked foot path at Grafton Lakes State Park high up on the Rensselaer Plateau.  Although fall colors are lacking down in the valley, the foliage is beginning to really get going now up at this elevation.

Reflections.
As I hit the north end of the pond, the unmarked path disappears altogether, only to reappear shortly after.  While the foot tread is obvious for most of the way, the east side is much less worn down.

Ideal fall conditions.
Beaver work from long ago.  The unmarked foot path eventually runs back into the Second Pond Trail just before arriving back at the lot.
The full loop is no more than 1.5 miles RT and extremely scenic, making for a very nice walk.  Especially on a perfect fall day.
